Last week I told you about my 6yo daughter's boyfriend, Ollie. Here's more...
A week before Christmas I had a "kid's Yankee Swap" at my house. If you don't know what a Yankee Swap is - it's an event where you bring a wrapped gift (new, or regifted) and then everyone draws numbers and chooses a gift when their number is up. When it's your turn you can keep the gift you unwrap or "steal" a gift from someone else. It gets pretty competitive.
My 6 year old only had one friend who could make it to the party - Ollie. When it was his turn he opened the gift that my daughter had brought - an Angry Bird Plushie. He REALLY liked it.
Unfortunately for him, so did my daughter. As soon as her number was called she stole it right out of his hands. He looked at her and said, "But I'm your best friend!"
He quickly got over his disappointment and stole another Angry Bird toy from someone else. It's a cool toy with plastic "logs" and rubber birds and pigs and you actually set up the logs and then launch the birds at them.
Sadly, someone stole it from Ollie shortly after he got it. I told him to steal the plushie back from my daughter. "No," he told me, "She really loves it."
Such a sweetie!
Ollie ended up getting stuck with the gift he brought - a Patriot's hat. He didn't seem very excited about it until my daughter said, "Ollie, I got the Angry Birds game with the logs and the pigs and the birds for my birthday and I want you to have it." So she went into the toy room and came out with the game and sent it home with him.
He positively beamed.
Ah, young love! :) So unselfish and sweet!
