The hard thing about travelling so much for work, besides missing my children, is missing my husband. The distance is putting a damper on our love life.
And when I finally get home he's exhausted from managing the household by himself and I am exhausted from working 19 hour days in an effort to get home as soon as possible.
But the greatest barrier to our passion is the most surprising.
Our bed, she is a saboteur.
With her king sized space, her pillow top that embraces you and the electric blanket that wraps you in heated goodness, I can barely keep my eyes open long enough to see that my husband has settled in - way over there.
Last weekend we were away in a very spacious two bedroom suite that was still way too small to accomodate the sort of loud, screamy maritals that I'm fond of.
So we aimed to make up for it this weekend.
Friday night was an epic fail. We tried - we honestly did - but we had to break off the french kissing for multiple yawn sessions and my husband said, "I'll catch you in the morning."
Had I still been awake I would have objected - I am NOT a morning person.
At 8am the following morning he nudged me. I threw an elbow back. "M'asleep" I managed.
"Come on..." he wheedled.
I scrunched up my eyes.
"We can't let this go to waste." he enticed.
Too bad for him my eyes weren't open.
Finally he stumbled on the magic promise... "After we're done you can sleep until noon."
BINGO!
It was 2 minutes of PURE BLISS.
Followed by 2 hours of sleep so deep that I didn't hear my daughter come through my room twice.
Saturday night we made up for the brevity of the morning.
We flirted. We kissed. We teased. We laughed. We talked. We got down to business.
When it was over he said, "It's been a long time."
I said, "Wait, then who the fuck was that this morning?" because I was half asleep.
Luckily he laughed.
Thank you for the smile this morning.

Before kids, I would always eagerly wake up for morning nookie. Because it would mean, afterward, a restful morning nap with lots of cuddles.
Now, it means waking up before the kids and praying that they don't wake up.
Very different world that I live in these days ;-)
