My children are 8, 7, 5 and 4. My husband is a stay at home dad. For a few years there his days were INSANE. He would wake up and start feeding, dressing, bathing, WIPING and transporting children. This would continue all day. At one point we had three children in diapers at the same time.
Now my sons are in grade school and my daughters are in kindergarten and preschool. Until this week they were on opposite schedules - one in the morning, the other in the afternoon so he still had someone at home full time.
This week my older daughter switched to morning kindergarten. My husband was GIDDY at the thought of 2.5 hours to himself - THREE TIMES A WEEK!
Monday was the first day. The older three kids got on the bus at 8am. My husband dropped my youngest daughter off at preschool at 9. My 6yo came home sick before 10. Don't worry, he's fine. He just had to poop.
Wednesday was the second day. We had a snow day. Our third snow day in 3 weeks. It was sleeting so the kids couldn't go out. They were CRAZY. Not exactly the same as having mornings off.
Today my daughter has the flu. So much for his first week as a part-timer.

I'd be pulling my hair out. And when it was over? I'd go shopping. For hats. And other stuff. Like shoes. And possibly more wall art. Revenge by credit card.

I can't say I blame him...there's always next week though.
I try not to get excited about time to myself since it's like putting a jinx on it or something. If I want to get out I'll wait until an hour before I want to go and start calling to see which friends are available. Putting any time for myself on a calendar is like asking for a kid to puke, bleed, or worse.
Hope the flu doesn't spread!

I'm a stay at home mom of a 5,3, and 1 yr old. I pity him with all my heart. My 1 year old is napping or I couldn't post this reply :)

I'm a stay at home mom with kids ages 7, 6, 4, and 2... two boys, two girls, so I can totally relate.
Except I homeschool due to the lousy school district we live in... so no part-time anything for me. Kids 24-7. At least none of them are in diapers.

Snow days totally f up my life. So does early dismissal. With 3 kids in 3 schools, seems there is no down time. And hate to tell you, but I've got nearly 10 years on those ages. Hang in there!
